This painting was completed in 2012, and was an idea that originated from conversations with closeted friends about how the world can be both a wonderful and twisted place. It is joyful: a palimpsest of technicolor fragments, but a closer look reveals a surreal logic that warps familiar symbols. It refuses to conform. It is a work on heavy watercolor paper. I used acrylic, gouache, pen, and magazine clippings.
