JONAH H. MELTZER
I am a visual and olfactory artist, based in Ferndale, Michigan. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Art Education from Michigan State University in 2018. I’m fascinated by how material can express consciousness. Material itself can be a sensory portal, or an archive of information. My works suspend elements in context, like notes in chords, forming new types of resonance. I imbue strong feelings, concepts, memories, and associations into material so that they may be read and felt. I see my artworks as enchantments. My work is informed by the lived frontier of Bipolar I and Schizoaffective disorder. I transform volatility and interference into focus. I study the intricacies of how perception shapes reality. My works are meant to create the conditions for moments of awareness.
